Amazing Quotes on Gun Control

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people's liberty teeth keystone... the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable... more than 99% of them by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour. " -George Washington

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."-Thomas Jefferson

Do Vegans use Lysol?

My brother-in-law was at a concert where vegans were passing out pamphlets to advertise their cause. He brought one home for us to see. They pictured animals being slaughtered, prodded, and pinned up in close quarters. Their quote was, "It's not whether or not they [animals] can reason; it's whether or not they can suffer."

What I don't understand is why they can kill plants and eat them but not animals. Maybe they would argue that you usually "harvest" things from plants, not kill the whole plant, or that plants don't have nerve cells. Then it hit me, do vegans use Lysol? Or antibiotics? Do they use bleach to kill mold on their shower walls? Just wondering.

Some verses on God's view of man's relationship to animals:
Proverbs 12:10, "A righteous man regards the life of his beast, but even the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel."
In Genesis 1:28, he commands man to "...fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

(Thanks to their hard work, vegans have managed to get a law changed in Florida that expands the required minimum size of the pens of pregnant and nursing pigs.. Pigs now have more room. What they failed to realize was that the reason pig pens are very small is to keep the sow from being able to turn around and sit on and suffocate her piglets. Now pig farmers in Florida are losing many piglets, thanks to this new law.)

Abortion is like Slavery

I had this thought the other day that might shed some new light on the abortion debate. What are pro-choicers in favor of? The woman's right to choose what happens to her own body, right? But the "fetus" inside her is not her own body; it is a different body altogether. If it were just a part of her own body, then all women would walk around with fetuses inside them, not just the ones who are about to give birth to a baby. So basically, when a woman ends a life that grows inside her, she is saying in a sense that that life is hers, that she owns it. What do we call it when one human owns another? Slavery! And if women own their own children, then we should have let Andrea Yates and all the other child murderers out of prison! So if we are in favor of abortion, we are in favor of slavery as well. You can't take one and leave the other.

(Let me know what you think.)

Global Warming and the Bible

As you probably know, global warming is supposed to cause the sea levels to rise, even dramatically in the years to come. One documentary I watched interviewed some Asian islanders whose homes have already experienced this rise in seawater.

I am reading through Proverbs every morning and came across these verses, which seem to say that the oceans cannot pass the boundaries that God has set for them. I am not sure what this means or says about global warming. Read for yourself and let me know what you think.

Proverbs 8:29- "When He gave the sea its limit and His decree that the waters should not transgress [across the boundaries set by] His command,..."

Job 38:8, 10-11 "Or shut up the sea with doors when it broke forth.... And marked it for My appointed boundary and set bars and doors, and said 'Thus far shall you come and no farther; and here shall your proud waves be stayed'?"

Psalm 104:9 "You have set a boundary [for the waters] which they may not pass over, that they turn not again to deluge the earth." (Here we may see the purpose of this repeated promise in Scripture- that the earth won't be destroyed by flooding again. Does that include rising sea levels from global warming?)

Jeremiah 5:22 "I placed the sand as a boundary of the sea, a perpetual barrier beyond which it cannot pass and by an everlasting ordinance beyond which it cannot go? And though the waves of the sea toss and shake themselves, yet they cannot prevail [against the feeble grains of sand which God has ordained by nature be sufficient for His purpose]; though [the billows] roar, yet they cannot pass over that [barrier]." (all from the Amplified Bible)

It seems like this does not allow for the massive retreat of water lines like many scientists are saying might happen. Has anyone heard this taught anywhere?

Political Survey

Leave a comment and answer for yourself
True or False?

  1. Protecting the environment is our social responsibilty, regardless of how it affects business.
False. Sometimes business helps us more than the envt. I.E., I would rather have gas prices go down than be able to enjoy those parks the drillers are kept out of in the US.
  1. Some people have less luck than others.
True.
  1. If you smoke marijuana, that's your business.
Only if you have cancer. (what? i would do it.)
  1. Social security should be replaced with private accounts.
True.
  1. The only social responsibility of a company should be to deliver a profit to its shareholders.
False. That's one, but not the only one.
  1. Everyone has a right to health care, even if they can't afford it
That would be nice. A better question would be "those who cannot afford health care have a right to the money of those that can." That would be false. Remember, the govt. has no money to give.
  1. All authority, by its nature, should be questioned
No, only if shady stuff is suspected.
  1. Military action that defies international law is sometimes justified.
True. International law is a joke. Nice idea, but it doesn't work.

What do you think about....?

  1. Illegal Immigrants
Um, the first word is an adjective- an adjective describes the noun that comes after it. So the phrase is pretty much self explanatory. They're illegal.
  1. Gay marriage
oxy moron
  1. No Child Left Behind
some of it's bad, some good
  1. The voucher system for schools
Good
  1. Affirmative action
the best person should get the job. aa makes skin color matter, and it shouldn't matter.
  1. People who carry guns
    Fine.
  2. The death penalty
Great. should be quicker and serve more people.
  3. Abortion
    murder
  4. Taxes
should be spent on the military and prosecuting criminals.
  5. President Bush
I thought he was really cool until he made that speach about New Orleans. He sounded like a socialist. Guess he's more like his dad than we all thought. He has done some really good things though.
    and .....
  6. The war in Iraq
    Needed.
