Christians had better be involved in politics!!

Even though it seems that way lately, please tell me I am not the only one who thinks Christians should actually be involved in politics. I am really sick of hearing that this is not our place. This would have been a foreign concept to Christians of even 50 years ago. I frankly don't know where it's coming from, perhaps from the whole concept of "separation of church and state." That is a whole 'nother topic I won't get into; just know it is a made up phrase and was not intended to be implemented the way it has been. David Barton, founder and president of Wall Builders, blames the departure of America from its Christian principles not on pagan secularism but on Christians who pulled out of the public sector in many areas. In response to criticism and opposition, they simply retreated into their churches, and, worse, compartmentalized their lives and their religion. We pulled out of the public schools, and prayer followed soon after. We pulled out of little leagues and Boy Scouts and made our own churchy versions of such. Worst of all, we pulled out of politics.

How many times have you heard...
"Christians should worry about winning souls, not picketing a political cause."
"Abortion is the only political issue Christians should worry about."
"The Bible doesn't talk about which form of government is best." (It most certainly does!)
"Pastors should not endorse candidates or preach politics from the pulpit." (Historically, they used to all the time. They were the political advisers of their day. It was part of their job.)

We are really in trouble here if we succumb to the statements above. Be careful; this mindset is exactly where Satan wants the followers of Christ to settle into. It is, at best, laziness disguised as spirituality or "unwordliness" and, at worse, debilitating to our cause and our country.

Check out Wall Builders for more on this!

Ron Paul caught in lie

I am finding myself really torn as to what to do if John McCain secures the Republican nomination for president. I don't know if I can vote for him. From the very beginning on this campaign, I have been a Huckabee supporter. When I first started to research the candidates, I liked him, and this was well before he became popular. I never thought he would make it as far as he has. I don't agree with him on every single thing, but I think he was definitely the best of the last 4 Rep. candidates.

However, not thinking he will receive the nomination, I began looking at Ron Paul. I have heard such differing things about him and decided to find out for myself. I know he says he doesn't plan to, but I really think he will run as an independent if he doesn't get the Rep nomination. I do agree with him in many areas, but in researching him, I found this lie. He says, on his campaign website, "[After we pulled out of Vietnam], instead of Vietnam becoming Communist, they became westernized." Here is the link: (it's toward the end of the video) http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/war-and-foreign-policy

Vietnam is in fact a communist nation. Here are some links to that proof & there are many more:

What a crazy thing to say. And it's so obviously wrong and easy to disproove, I was quite shocked.

I'll let you know what else I find out.

Immigration: Which side really is racist?

Most people agree, illegal immigration is increasing at top speeds, and things are not working the way they are. The Left accuses those who are against amnesty plans as being racist. Perhaps some are, but I would offer that allowing illegal immigration to continue unchecked is racist. If I were from overseas, I would be offended that Latin Americans are given special treatment by being allowed to come in so freely, and that the laws are enforced for me and not for them. People in favor of amnesty are basically spitting in the face of any other race that would wish to come to the US. They are giving special treatment to some, based solely on their location and race. We should think about the message we are sending to those who wish to come here from countries other than those in Latin America. If we give them special treatment through amnesty, either by law or simply by ignoring that they are here, we are committing a clear act of racism.

Great Voting Guide

This site is great. It gives detailed views on lots of issues of the top candidates. You can take a quiz that will match you with a candidate. It will also tell you if you're more conservative, libertarian, liberal, or populist (click on "vote match quiz"). My pick? Mike Huckabee.

Amazing Quotes on Gun Control

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people's liberty teeth keystone... the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable... more than 99% of them by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour. " -George Washington

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."-Thomas Jefferson

Do Vegans use Lysol?

My brother-in-law was at a concert where vegans were passing out pamphlets to advertise their cause. He brought one home for us to see. They pictured animals being slaughtered, prodded, and pinned up in close quarters. Their quote was, "It's not whether or not they [animals] can reason; it's whether or not they can suffer."

What I don't understand is why they can kill plants and eat them but not animals. Maybe they would argue that you usually "harvest" things from plants, not kill the whole plant, or that plants don't have nerve cells. Then it hit me, do vegans use Lysol? Or antibiotics? Do they use bleach to kill mold on their shower walls? Just wondering.

Some verses on God's view of man's relationship to animals:
Proverbs 12:10, "A righteous man regards the life of his beast, but even the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel."
In Genesis 1:28, he commands man to "...fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

(Thanks to their hard work, vegans have managed to get a law changed in Florida that expands the required minimum size of the pens of pregnant and nursing pigs.. Pigs now have more room. What they failed to realize was that the reason pig pens are very small is to keep the sow from being able to turn around and sit on and suffocate her piglets. Now pig farmers in Florida are losing many piglets, thanks to this new law.)

Abortion is like Slavery

I had this thought the other day that might shed some new light on the abortion debate. What are pro-choicers in favor of? The woman's right to choose what happens to her own body, right? But the "fetus" inside her is not her own body; it is a different body altogether. If it were just a part of her own body, then all women would walk around with fetuses inside them, not just the ones who are about to give birth to a baby. So basically, when a woman ends a life that grows inside her, she is saying in a sense that that life is hers, that she owns it. What do we call it when one human owns another? Slavery! And if women own their own children, then we should have let Andrea Yates and all the other child murderers out of prison! So if we are in favor of abortion, we are in favor of slavery as well. You can't take one and leave the other.

(Let me know what you think.)
